Huskers Win First Three Games of Season
Nebraska Defeats Arizona State 3-0, 3-1, 8-2
The Nebraska Cornhuskers swept the No. 14 Arizona State Sun Devils in a three-game series at home this past weekend. The Huskers won the first game 3-0, the second game 3-1, and the third game 8-2.
Freshman pitcher Camille Jordan pitched a complete game shutout in the first game, striking out 11 batters. Junior outfielder Madi Unzicker hit a two-run homerun in the second inning to give the Huskers an early lead.
In the second game, senior pitcher Courtney Wallace allowed just one run on four hits in six innings of work. Senior infielder Peyton Glatter hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to give the Huskers a 2-0 lead.
The Huskers broke the game open in the third game, scoring six runs in the first three innings. Junior outfielder Tristen Edwards hit a two-run homerun in the first inning, and sophomore infielder Billie Andrews hit a three-run homerun in the second inning.
The sweep was a big win for the Huskers, who are now 3-0 on the season. The Huskers will travel to Fresno, California, next weekend to face the Fresno State Bulldogs in a three-game series.
