Dallas Hosts First Game Thursday
The Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Celtics meet for Game 1 of their best-of-7 NBA Finals series Thursday night at American Airlines Center in Dallas. The Celtics enter the series as the slight betting favorites, with BetMGM listing them as a 2.5-point favorite for the series opener.
The Celtics have been the NBA's best team all season long, posting a league-best 57-25 record. They are also a perfect 12-0 in the playoffs, sweeping the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat in the first three rounds.
The Mavericks, meanwhile, have been a surprise team all season long. They finished the regular season with a 53-29 record, good for the fourth seed in the Western Conference. They then upset the Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers in the first three rounds of the playoffs.
The Celtics are led by Jayson Tatum, who is averaging 27.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game in the playoffs. Jaylen Brown is also averaging over 20 points per game for the Celtics. The Mavericks are led by Luka Doncic, who is averaging 32.6 points, 9.9 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game in the playoffs.
