WEB James Daniel Tabor was an American biblical scholar, historian, and author who made significant contributions to the study of early Christianity and the Second Temple period.

Tabor published numerous books on a wide range of topics related to ancient Judaism and early Christianity, spanning from his first publication in 1986 to his final work in 2021.

One of his most notable contributions was his work on the historical Jesus, in which he argued that Jesus was a Galilean peasant preacher who was crucified by the Romans. Tabor also wrote extensively about the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Jewish-Christian relations in the first century.

Retirement and Legacy

Tabor retired from his position as a full professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2022.

His work continues to be influential in the fields of biblical studies, ancient Judaism, and early Christianity, and his legacy as a distinguished scholar and prolific author will undoubtedly endure for years to come.
