Italy's public debt has witnessed a staggering surge over the past decade. In 2012, the country's debt stood at €1.9 trillion, but it has since soared to an alarming €2.9 trillion in 2022, effectively doubling over the period.
Italy's Debt to Germany Soars
Italy's debt to Germany has also experienced a significant increase since 2014. In 2014, Italy owed €163 billion to Germany, which has since risen by €42 billion, reaching €205 billion in 2022. This substantial increase highlights the country's growing reliance on external financing.
Egypt Tops the List
As of the end of 2021, Egypt held the distinction of having the highest level of debt to Germany among all countries. Egypt's debt to Germany reached a staggering €24.6 billion, dwarfing the debts of other nations.
